Professional Central AC Installation in Lancaster, PA
Upgrading to a new cooling system is one of the best investments in your Lancaster home’s comfort and energy efficiency. At J&G Heating & Air Conditioning, our NATE-certified technicians have installed thousands of central air systems over nearly three decades — we know what equipment performs best in our climate and how to size, place, and install it correctly.
Why Choose J&G Heating & Air Conditioning for Your New AC System
When you’re investing in a new central air system, the contractor matters as much as the equipment. Our experience, manufacturer certifications, and family-owned service all add up to one thing: an AC installation done right the first time, backed by people who’ll be here for tune-ups and future repairs when you need them.

What Sets Our AC Installation Apart?
We’re a Heil Elite Dealer and Fujitsu Elite Dealer, meaning we’ve met strict performance and training standards set by manufacturers who only certify contractors with proven installation quality and customer service records. Our technicians stay current on the latest equipment features, efficiency standards, and installation best practices through ongoing training. That certification means your system will be installed to manufacturer specs and your warranty will be honored without question.
For nearly 30 years, Lancaster families have counted on us to keep them cool. That track record comes from honest advice about equipment sizing (no upselling oversized units), transparent pricing with no surprise charges, and showing up when we say we will. If your system runs into trouble years from now, you’re calling the same people who installed it — we remember your home, your preferences, and how we set everything up.
Our team holds industry certifications that verify hands-on knowledge of refrigerant handling, electrical codes, safety protocols, and system commissioning. NATE certification isn’t a mail-in credential — it requires passing a comprehensive exam on HVAC theory and practice. We don’t just install; we set your system up to run efficiently from day one, with proper airflow, correct refrigerant charge, and balanced temperatures throughout your home.
Central AC sizing isn’t about picking the biggest unit. Our technicians assess your home’s square footage, insulation, window placement, sun exposure, and local humidity patterns. An oversized system cycles on and off, wasting energy and cycling the compressor excessively. An undersized system leaves hot spots and runs constantly. We get it right so your cooling bills stay reasonable and your system lasts longer.
Every installation includes manufacturer warranty registration (protecting you for years to come) and our detailed documentation of what was installed, where, and how it was configured. You’ll have clear service records if you ever need repair, refinance your home, or want to sell. This documentation is also valuable if you later add zones or expand your system.
If something goes wrong after installation, emergency service is available Monday–Sunday, 6:00 AM–10:00 PM (after-hours fee applies). Whether it’s a refrigerant leak, electrical issue, or thermostat problem, our technicians know your exact system setup and can diagnose and resolve issues quickly.

Our Process
Our AC Installation Process
Every central AC installation we do follows the same proven process — designed to deliver right-sized equipment, professional workmanship, and a system that performs from day one. Tap any step below to see exactly what happens.
We begin with a detailed in-home assessment. Our technician walks through your home with you to understand square footage, ceiling height, window placement, insulation, and the layout that affects cooling performance. We ask about your budget, existing ductwork condition, any zones you want to cool separately, and your typical occupancy patterns. This step ensures we recommend equipment that fits your home — not oversized equipment that wastes money or undersized systems that leave you uncomfortable.
During this visit, we also inspect your attic and basement to understand where the indoor unit will go, check whether your electrical panel can handle the new system, and ask about any past cooling issues (hot bedrooms, temperature swings, etc.). All of this data feeds into our equipment recommendation.
Walk through your home with you and review the spaces that need cooling, plus any past comfort issues
Inspect existing ductwork for leaks, blockages, sizing issues, and age-related deterioration
Review your electric panel capacity and breaker availability for new system wiring requirements
Discuss brand options (Heil, Fujitsu, and others) and seasonal efficiency ratings (SEER2 ratings) to match your budget
Provide a written estimate with equipment specs, labor cost, timeline, and warranty information
Once you approve the estimate, we order your new system and coordinate delivery with our suppliers. We only install EPA-approved, energy-efficient equipment — typically SEER2 14 or higher, meaning your new system will save you money on cooling costs compared to older units. Our preferred brands (Heil and Fujitsu) come with excellent warranties and parts availability in Lancaster County. If you’re financing the installation, we can discuss options and timing to fit your budget with zero-interest payment plans available.
Before ordering, we confirm every detail with you: exact brand and model, efficiency rating, indoor unit location, outdoor pad requirements, and any ductwork upgrades. This prevents surprises when the truck shows up.
Confirm equipment brand, model, and efficiency rating with you in writing before ordering
Verify arrival date with the supplier and coordinate job scheduling around your availability
Review financing options (Wells Fargo, PowerPay, GoodLeap) if needed and process paperwork
Schedule installation appointment at your convenience
On installation day, our crew arrives with all tools, materials, and EPA-certified refrigerant recovery equipment. We start by safely recovering refrigerant from your old unit (required by EPA law under the Clean Air Act) and disconnecting the outdoor and indoor components. This process takes care and proper equipment — old refrigerants like R-22 are increasingly expensive to recover and must never be vented to the atmosphere. Old equipment is disposed of responsibly through our recycling partners. The process is clean — we protect your landscaping and take precautions to prevent refrigerant release or electrical hazards.
If your old outdoor unit sat on a concrete pad, we’ll remove and haul that away too, or prepare the site for a new pad if needed. We protect your driveway, gardens, and lawn during this process.
Recover refrigerant from existing system using EPA-certified equipment and methods
Disconnect indoor and outdoor units carefully, preserving surrounding structures
Remove old concrete pad or prepare new foundation/pad location if needed
Clean up all debris and haul away old equipment same-day
We position the new outdoor condenser on a level, stable surface (new pad if needed) and run new copper refrigerant lines and electrical wiring into your home. The indoor air handler or coil is positioned in your attic, basement, or utility closet — wherever your ducts already run. This is the most technical part of the installation: we make permanent, leak-proof refrigerant line connections, verify proper insulation to prevent condensation loss, and check every joint for leaks using nitrogen pressure testing. Incorrect line sizing or poor connections are common reasons for systems to fail prematurely — we do this right the first time.
Condensate (water that drains from the cooling coil) must flow downhill to a drain or exterior discharge. We slope all tubing and condensate lines correctly so water never backs up into your home.
Position outdoor condenser unit on stable, level pad (new concrete if old pad was damaged)
Run new copper tubing from outdoor to indoor unit, sized per manufacturer specifications for your system capacity
Install or connect indoor air handler/coil with proper slope for condensate drainage (no pooling or backup)
Pressure-test all joints using nitrogen at manufacturer-specified PSI before charging with refrigerant
Insulate all refrigerant lines with closed-cell foam to prevent energy loss and condensation
Before we leave, the system is powered up, cycled through cooling modes, and tested for proper airflow and temperature differential across your home. We measure the refrigerant superheat and subcooling to verify the charge is exact — too little refrigerant and the system won’t cool; too much and you’ll damage the compressor. We also measure airflow at each vent to confirm balanced cooling throughout your home. We show you how to use the thermostat, explain filter changes, review seasonal maintenance, and walk you through the warranty so you understand what’s covered.
You’ll have a complete record of what was installed, serial numbers of all major components, and our contact information for any questions that come up during the first months of operation. Many homeowners call with thermostat questions or filter locations — we’re happy to help.
Charge system to exact refrigerant specification using calibrated digital instruments
Verify all electrical connections, voltage checks, and safety controls (high-pressure cutout, low-pressure cutout, etc.)
Measure airflow (CFM) and temperature differential across every duct zone to confirm balanced cooling
Run full cooling cycle and confirm even temperature throughout your home
Program thermostat and show you all features: setpoints, schedules, emergency heat mode, fan modes
Explain seasonal filter changes, cleaning schedules, indoor unit drain maintenance, and full warranty terms
Leave you with installation paperwork (model numbers, serial numbers, warranty cards), maintenance schedule, and emergency contact number
